Los Alcazares Beach Los Alcazares has some of the finest beaches along the Costa Calida of Spain. The beaches at Playa de los Narejos and Playa del Espejo have won the famous Q Awards for their high standards. The beaches run along the Mar Menor and offers warm shallow waters and fine sand. Along the promenade there are various bars, cafes, restaurants selling local tapas and play areas for children. Just a short walk inland leads you into the town centre area of Los Alcazares.

Cabo De Palos is situated at the southern entrance to La Manga. It is a charming fishing port with many fabulous restaurants fronting the harbour where the seafood is top class. The lighthouse was originally designed in 1865 as a school for lighthouse keepers. Every Sunday the locals visit the market where you can find a variety of good value items. This is a typical Murcian village with less than 1000 inhabitants. It is a sleepy coastal village where the history is one of a fishing community and is still relatively reliant on the sea today with most resident families having connections with the industry Cartagena is an ancient city dating back to pre Roman times. Situated 30 minutes from the La Torre it offers many places of interest and good shopping. Cruise ships visit the large port in summer.

Cartagena ChurchCartagena Ancient Cartagena is the second most important city in the region and the centre of the Mediterranean Maritime Department. It predates the Roman period and boasts the ruins of a Roman theatre, archaeological museums plus a number of interesting examples of military and modernist exhibits and architecture. As well as the chic shopping and tapas bars in Calle Mayor Cartagena is a large city with shopping and commerce spread across it. Places of interest include the Church of Santa Maria La Vieja the Torre Ciega, Torres Park and the Castle de la Concepcion. One of the prettiest areas in the city is its port where you can find the Modernist Town Hall and several monuments - including one dedicated to the Heroes of Cavite and, and the work of Isaac Pearl in 1888 dedicated to the first submarine in the world ever to be launched.

Santiago De La Ribera is found on the northern side of the Mar Menor. It is a very pretty small town with a lovely harbour. It also has good beachside fish restaurants. The RCR of Santiago de la Ribera, an international sailing school, is located there.

Lo Pagan and San Pedro Del Pinatar San Pedro del Pinatar is traditionally a seafaring and agricultural centre. The main attractions of San Pedro are concentrated around the beach and shore. Sierra Espuna is one of Spain’s most stunning National Parks. It is a mountainous area covered by pine forests, and relatively virgin territory, yet to be discovered by the masses. The area is fantastic for mountain biking and walking all year round. It is possible to climb to the highest point of the Sierra Espuña to look at the Snow Wells (Pozos de la Nieve) which are deep large wells dug into the ground, where at one time the locals used to pack down the snow and make ice for transport back to the town of Totana for keeping food cool. Other activities include: trail walking, rock climbing, bird watching and hand-gliding.

Calblanque Regional Park MapCalblanque Regional Park If you like to be on a secluded golden beach, surrounded by hills rich in flora and fauna and where the only thing you will hear is the sea as the waves break on the shore, then visits Calblanque Regional Park. This area of outstanding natural beauty and finely balanced eco system is amazingly just a short drive down a dusty track from the dual carriageway leading to La Manga. Because the dunes are so fragile wooden walkways have been provided to protect them. The result is that apart for the last few metres access to the beach is very easy.
